Two major signings were announced earlier today by one of Asia's biggest MMA promotions, One FC. The organization revealed inks by outgoing Dream champions Shinya Aoki and Bibiano Fernandes. The signings follow news from the previous month that Dream has ceased operations, news that was later denied by Dream officials who claimed they were simply "restructuring", which basically means they are desperately looking for a buyer.
As for the fighters, Aoki was the Dream lightweight champion. He's a known submission specialist who has fought in Strikeforce, DEEP, and more recently Bellator where he lost in a non-title rematch against Bellator's lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez.
Bibiano Fernandes has fought and held Dream titles in the featherweight and bantamweight divisions. Up until a couple of weeks ago, it was rumored that Fernandes had signed with the UFC. However, it was later revealed that he had not signed and was still exploring his options.
Both fighters are slated for spots on One FC's fifth show, One FC 5 - "Pride of a Nation", scheduled for August in Manila, Philippines.
