Bob Sapp Submits to "Leg Injury" against James Thompson at Super Fight League 1 [Updated with full event video]

I once knew a guy who threw himself down the stairs at my job to receive an early retirement. Hint, hint...

In a bout probably more fit for a circus sideshow, super heavyweights Bob Sapp and James Thompson squared off atop the main event at Super Fight League 1 in Mumbai, India.

During a back-and-forth series of wrestling in the first round, James Thompson managed to secure a double leg takedown to escape a brief ground-and-pound session by Sapp. Immediately following the takedown, Sapp tapped out due to leg injury.

It wasn't the best match, not that we expected one, but it served its purpose in bringing attention to a slowly budding MMA scene in India. This is especially significant, considering that India is one of the places recently mentioned by Dana White for a TUF season.

And, by the way, if you are interested in learning more about MMA in India, I've been following this blog for a few months, My Journey with Mixed Martial Arts India Blog.

Anyway, your Bob Sapp vs. James Thompson freak show is served. Enjoy!

UPDATE: SFL has posted the entire card to their YouTube account...
