Jeff Monson vs. Alexey Oleinik Announced for M-1 Challenge 31

Jeff Monson will return to the M-1 ring on March 16 for M-1 Challenge 31, where he will tap gloves with Alexey Oleinik in a grappler-vs-grappler standoff. Monson, an ADCC champion, visited Russia back in November of 2011 when he lost to fighting legend Fedor Emelianenko. His next M-1 opponent, Alexey Oleinik, is well known on the Russian 'mixfight' circuit. He has fought in several M-1 events, won a KSW 8-man elimination tournament in 2007, and made the semifinals of Bellator's Season 3 heavyweight tournament.

M-1 Challenge 31 also includes a 170lb. welterweight title bout. Challenging the current champion, Yasubey Enomoto, will be Rashid Magomedov. Magomedov sports a 13-1 record of which his last 6 have wll been. Magomedov was originally scheduled to face former M-1 170 lb. titlist Shamil Zavurov in December of 2012. However, Enomoto replaced Magomedov on short notice for what became a heated rematch. Enomoto went on to defeat Zavurov, taking the M-1 welterweight strap. Now, the original challenger and the new titleholder are set face off for M-1 gold in March!

In between time, Monson will also compete at "Draka - Governor's Cup 2012" in Russia. Monson draws Alexander Illiasov, a local Russian fighter in the card's main event.
