The wait is over...
It's official! Fedor Emelianenko and Satoshii Ishii will meet at this year's Dream Fight for Japan NYE event. After two or three weeks of silence from both sides, it was announced by Dream last night that the Russian MMA legend Fedor will clash with Ishii, a Judo Olympic gold medalist.
For Fedor, the bout continues the path to redemption, as the accomplished heavyweight recently captured his first win following a string of three back-to-back losses. He earned a unanimous decision over Jeff Monson last month in Russia.
For Satoshi Ishii, a win over Emelianenko will surely propel his career. Ishii's only loss was his first, a decision to Hidehiko Yoshida. Since his debut two years ago, Satoshi Ishii won four fights in a row in 2010. Ishii ventured out to Brazil in September where he fought former WEC Middleweight Champion Paulo Filho to a draw.
Fedor and Ishii join a stacked card that features Satoru Kitaoka taking on Shinya Aoki and World Bantamweight Grand Prix semifinals and finals bouts.
