Thirteen Years Later: Shootboxing and Shooto Team Up for "Shoot the Shooto 2011"

When Shooto and Shootboxing last combined forces, the Chicago Bulls were putting a cap on their 90's reign, winning their last championship title of the decade, Bill Clinton was still building a record surplus in the White House, and Jay-Z's Hard Knock Life Volume 2 was killing the charts. That was back in 1998. The card featured a most interesting bout in which 600lb. super heavyweight Emmanuel Yarborough smothered Tatsuaki Nakano to a submission victory.

Now, Shooto and Shootboxing are at it again, ready to present "Shooto the Shooto 2011". The card will take place over two days, opening with a night of MMA rules bouts, followed by shootboxing rules the next. On the MMA card, Junji Ikomi will defend the Shooto Flyweight (115 lb.) Title against Mikihito Yamagami. Meanwhile former Shooto bantamweight (123 lb.) titlist Shinichi Kojima will take on Flyweight King of Pancrase Kiyotaka Shimizu.

The shootboxing rules card boasts a high-flying match-up between former Shooto 143 lb. champ Takeshi "Lion" Inoue and established Shootboxing veteran Hiroki Shishido.
