Gray Maynard Showcases "Phenomenal" Grip Strength for Sports Science

Gray Maynard has Popeye-like grip strength and he puts it on display for ESPN's Sports Science.

The reason Maynard has a stronger grip than some NFL lineman can be attributed to his rope climbing workouts. "The Bully" shows and proves in this Sports Science segment, strapped with body sensors, the UFC lightweight fighter measures a grip strength of 195lbs, and a maximum punching power of 1,400lbs of force -- killer!

Maynard is set to challenge Frankie Edgar in a highly anticipated rubber match for the UFC Lightweight Title on October 8th.

Rope climbing is a popular upper body workout among mixed martial artists, especially those with wrestling backgrounds like Maynard.
