People Should be Talking about Shark Fights 19 This Weekend

Unsurprisingly, Shark Fights 19 is overshadowed by Bellator 49 and Strikeforce: Barnett vs. Kharitonov. However, this event has some noteworthy match-ups.

Romario da Silva (20-9-1) and Jaime Jara (32-9-1) will lock horns in a welterweight main event bout. This will be da Silva's US debut, while Jaime Jara looks to add another 'w' to his current three-win streak. Da Silva is a two-time Shoot-Brazil veteran who was originally scheduled to challenger 170 lb champion Josh Neer for the SF WW title. However, the former Pan American Muay Thai Kickboxing champ will face an equally competitive opponent in Jaime Jara. Jara is a well-traveled fighter who has made appearances under the Gladiator Challenge, Elite XC, King of the Cage, and Bellator banners. Jara won the Gladiator Challenge Welterweight Title back in May.

Meanwhile, the co-main event showcases a local favorite, Rob Kimmons of Liberty, Missouri. Kimmons steps into the SF cage hoping to snap a three-fight loosing streak. Earlier this year Kimmons ended a two year run with the UFC. He fought at Titan FC 19 in July, loosing to Brendan Seguin by decision. Tomorrow night Kimmons will trade with Chuck Parmelee (34-12-1), an experienced fighter who brings with him a 7-fight win streak.

Off records alone, the main and co-main events at tonight's Shark Fights 19 show are proof of an event that probably deserves a bit more attention. The outcomes of these bouts should determine contention for the Shark Fights' next welterweight title outing.

Shark Fights 19 is co-promoted with St. Louis-based Shamrock Promotions. The event will air on Fuel TV on September 30.
