Paul Daley on Tyron Woodley: "This Guy's a Rookie"

Paul Daley is multi-tasking -- sparring with his mouth and his hands at the same time.

The British welterweight is preparing for a classic striker-vs-wrestler match-up against undefeated Tyron Woodley (8-0). The bout could determine title contention.

Paul Daley has his eyes on the Strikeforce welterweight crown. A win over Tyron Woodley could give him another shot at the belt. After getting TKO'ed by former Strikeforce 170 lb. Champion Nick Diaz in April, Daley couldn't have better luck. Diaz vacated the title, jumping ship to the UFC to challenge Georges St. Pierre for the UFC welterweight strap. The move leaves an opening in Strikeforce's welterweight title slot.

It's likely that Daley vs. Woodley could set up Strikeforce's next welterweight title bout. But against who?

Scott Coker still hasn't announced who the "mystery welterweight signee" is, but if fan poll results are accurate, there's a 73% chance that it'll be Bellator Welterweight Champion Ben Askren.

But we probably shouldn't expect to hear much about the mystery welterweight until later this summer. For now, Paul Daley vs. Tyron Woodley is next on the menu. It all goes down on Strikeforce's July 30 card, "Fedor vs. Henderson." The event, which is co-promoted with M-1 Global, will take place at the Sears Centre in Hoffman Estates, Illinois, just outside of Chicago.
