Big Welterweight Signing: Who the hell is Scott Coker talking about??? [Poll]

Scott Coker has the entire MMA community scratching their heads right now. Earlier today, the Zuffa underboss discussed Strikeforce's welterweight division with MMAJunkie.com. He was quoted making the following cloudy statement about a possible signing:
"We're about to sign another fighter that until it's done I don't want to say who it is. It's possible (the new fighter could immediately fight for a title). Maybe we'll give him one fight, and we'll see what happens. But I definitely think the experience will speak for itself."
MMA message boards and chat rooms are already buzzing with speculation as to who the mystery signee could be. Nate Marquardt is probably the most mentioned name out there. Nate was recently cut from the UFC for TRT abuse. Bringing Nate over to the UFC's little sister promotion would definitely stir the pot and boost some ratings. Some other names on the wire are:
  • Ben Askren. Second to Nate Marquardt, Askren is being touted by many message board-goers as Coker's mystery fighter. However, many are claiming that he is tied into a long-term contract with Bellator. I'm leaning toward Askren. Coming into Strikeforce as the outgoing Bellator Welterweight Champion is a huge sell. Askren has also expressed wanting to fight for Strikeforce in the past.
  • Ryan Ford, a Canadian welterweight standout. He has bad blood with the MFC and Mark Pavelich. Currently fighting under Aggression MMA.
  • Jordan Mein, another Canadian standout. At 22-7 Mein should definitely fit Coker's "experience" requirement.
  • John Alessio has fought in every promotion but Strikeforce. He's 31-14 -- "experience", again.
  • Siyar Bahadurzada, a well-traveled international fighter training with the Golden Glory camp. He's fought at the 170, 185, and 205 lb. divisions. Just won the Ulimate Glory World Series Welterweight Tournament in May.
