Shoot Boxing 2011 Act 3: Toby Imada Victorious, Rena Kubota Falls

This year's third Shoot Boxing installment went down yesterday at Korakuen Hall in Tokyo. Shoot Boxing 2011 Act 3 featured Toby Imada in his fourth shoot boxing appearance and women's kickboxing star Rena Kubota gunning for the previously vacant Shoot Boxing Women's Title.

Toby Imada improved to 3-1 in shoot boxing competition. The two-time Bellator lightweight tournament finalist utilized his Judo skills to route a decision win over Hiroki Shishido. Last year, in his first shoot boxing appearance, Imada advanced to the 2010 S-Cup finals where he loss to Muy Thai fighter Buakaw Por. Pramuk.

There was a lot of "smack talk" leading up to last night's Shoot Box Ladies' Title bout. Rena Kubota suffered her first ever shoot boxing loss in a rematch with Ai Takahashi. Takahashi manhandled Kubota to a decisive five-round decision. The loss was Kubota's first overall since dropping a split decision to Su-Jeong Lim at a 2009 K-1 event.
