Legend Fighting Championship Heads to 'City of Dreams' for Fifth Show

Legend Fighting Championship has quickly become China's flagship promotion. The upstart promotion held their first event in January 2010, and is now promoting their fifth show, Legend FC 5. For the event, Legend has teamed up with City of Dreams, a high-class leisure resort in Macau, kicking off a newly-established partnership between the two organizations. Legend FC 5 will take place on July 16, and will feature a welterweight title affair between current champion Rod MacSwain (12-3) of Australia who makes his first title defense against Dream and M-1 veteran Bae Myung Ho (11-5) of South Korea.

A pro mixed martial arts event at an exclusive Macau resort can only spell good things for Legend FC, and could usher in an era of growth for Chinese MMA.

Legend FC 5 Press Release:

City of Dreams exclusively presents Legend Fighting Championship 5
June 1, 2011

Mixed Martial Arts Legends come together in Macau on Saturday, 16 July, as City of Dreams exclusively presents Legend Fighting Championship 5!

Legend Welterweight Champion Rod MacSwain makes his first title defense against South Korean’s Bae Myung Ho. MacSwain surprised the MMA world in January when, as the underdog, he defeated highly regarded veteran Kim Hoon to take the Legend title. But the New Zealander will face a stiff test in Team MAD standout Bae, who has won all three of his previous contests in the Legend ring.

In the co-main event of the evening, Chinese Shuaijiao master Yao Honggang takes on top-ranked Korean fighter Jo Nam Jin for the Legend Bantamweight Championship. Known for an aggressive, flamboyant fighting style that has seen him knock out or submit most of his opponents, Jo may have met his match in China’s Yao, whose superior wrestling may make the difference in this encounter.

Legend 5 also showcases the first round of a four-man featherweight tournament, featuring Wu Chengjie (China) vs. Fransino Tirta (Indonesia) and Yusuke Kawanago (Japan) vs. Choi Yeong Gwang (South Korea). Also appearing on the card will be Legend veterans Li Jingliang (China), Wang Sai (China), Rob Hill (Australia), Pat Crawley (New Zealand), Nam Yui Chul (South Korea), and Yang Hae Jun (South Korea).

Join 18 national champion fighters as they make their mark on Macau for the first time!
Tickets now available at,,, HMV outlets, and select martial arts gyms.
