MFC 29 Results and Leftovers

Two titles and promotional standing on the line.

MFC 29: Conquer marked the Maximum Fighting Championship's first event in Ontario. The event will go down in the books as the first major mixed martial arts event to take place in the Canadian province. It also makes for a stepping stone in the promotional race for second biggest MMA promotion in the world behind the UFC-Strikeforce-Zuffa Empire.

Did the MFC meet the mark last night?
I would argue, yes. For a long-standing but still growing organization, the MFC stood its ground in new territory, bearing a new cage, and an entirely new market situation given the Zuffa acquisition of Strikeforce.

The show
The MFC delivered quality programming via HDNet, their official broadcast partner. It should be considered that the transition from a ring to a cage can affect production, but the MFC appeared to make a smooth one.

Recommendations:
More backstage/locker room video access.

Up-close shots on ring girls. (More ring girl coverage and promotion overall would be nice. They are practically nonexistent to television viewers, and there's no ring girl page on the offical MFC website. Remember: guys like half-naked women!)

Results:
It only took MFC welterweight king Douglas Lima 74 seconds to freight train UFC vet Terry Martin for the TKO win.

MFC Lightewight Champion Ryan Jimmo had his way with a stubborn Zac Cummings to retain the title following a tough 5-rounder.

UFC veteran lightweight Marcus Davis got back on track in the victory column, edging Curtis Demarce via split decision.

Another UFC lightweight veteran, Hermes Franca, KO'd 155 lb. prospect Robert Washington 26 seconds into the second round. In the first round, Washington held his own against Franca, who entered the MFC cage without his usual colorful hair. However, less than half a minute into the second round Washington didn't even know what hit him.

Pete Spratt, a heavy-handed striker, opted for a submission win last night, stretching Demi Deeds with an armbar in the second round.

Peep the rest in the quick results below.
