Andre Berto vs. Victor Ortiz Highlights

If you missed this fight, you might as well go into hiding for the rest of the year. This boxing match already has my vote for 'fight of the year.' My remote control has permanent rub marks in it from switching back and forth between Bellator 41's badly judged Joe Warren vs. Marcos Galvao fight and Berto vs. Quintana on HBO.

After watching Joe Warren's hand being (unjustly) raised, I instantly tuned in to the remainder of HBO Boxing's biggest show of the year so far. Haitian-American welterweight Andre Berto put the WBC Welterweight title on the line against vicious southpaw Victor Ortiz. After twelve grueling rounds, Ortiz was ruled the victor, handing Berto his first ever loss as a pro, earning the WBC Welterweight title in the process. It was Berto's seventh title defense.

Also of note, Andre Berto is son of Dieusel Berto, a shootfighter/mixed martial artist who competed in UFC 10. His brother, James, is a professional mixed martial artist competing in the lighweight division.

As for Victor Ortiz, fans are already throwing around Shane Mosley's name as a future match-up. Meanwhile, Mosley still has to get past lethal Filipino fighter Manny Pacquaio next month.
