Not even an earthquake could stop the Shooto legacy. The long-running Japanese MMA promotion will present “Shooto Tradition 2011" on April 29th, a date originally reserved for their "Shootor's Legacy 3" ticket. The show will be a charity event, supporting the victims and clean-up efforts of the tragic Tohoku Earthquake.

The stacked card is typical of Shooto's highly regarded sub-lightweight roster. The event pairs reigning Shooto featherweight titleholder Shuichiro Katsumura against current Shooto Pacific Rim Featherweight Champion Koetsu Okazaki in the main event. Katsumura was initially expected to see a rematch with Darren Uyenoyama, who posted an upset via second round TKO over Katsumura in non-title action last September.

In flyweight action, Junji Sarumaru will challenge #4 world ranked flyweight Rambaa Somdet for the Shooto Flyweight Title. Somdet looks to extend his six-fight win streak in his second title defense against Ito, who has racked up five wins by way of TKO/KO in his ten fight career. Junji Ito is currently ranked #14 as a flyweight by FightMatrix.com.

Well-travelled Shooto veteran Takeshi Inoue looks for a win against Taiki Tsuchiya. It will be a classic old vs. new bout, as the more experienced Inoue, who enters the bout with a two-fight loosing streak, will take on a strong up-and-coming prospect in Tsuchiya. Inoue is a former Shooto lightweight champion. Meanwhile, Tsuchiya has been identified by BloodyElbow.com as a top 145 lb. prospect, being ranked #2 in their "World Featherweight Scouting Report". This match could set up a Tsuchiya-Hatsu Hioki (#4 ranked world featherweight) showdown for the Shooto lightweight (143 lb.) title.
