Around the Pro Circuit: Uriah Hall (4-1) vs. Costantinos Philippou at Ring of Combat 34

Ring of Combat 34 might stand in the shadows of UFC 126 this weekend, but the ROC, one of the east coast's premiere promotions, still casts a light of its own. On Friday night ROC promoter Lou Neglia looks to pack the Tropicana Casino in Atlantic City where a stacked fourteen bout card awaits fans.

On the card, a highly anticipated match between two up-and-coming prospects Uriah Hall (4-1) and Costantinos Philippou (6-1) carries fireworks potential. The two New York-based fighters will square off in a light heavyweight, non-title showdown.

Uriah Hall, the former ROC middleweight champion, sufferred his only loss, a first round TKO in his last outing, to another blazing prospect in All American wrestler Chris Weidman. Weidman walked away with the title, but Hall seeks a new beginning as the New York City resident bumps up to light heavyweight for this upcoming fight. Fans will surely witness a spectacular display of punching and kicking from Hall, a certified striker from Team Tiger Schulmann, a school known for its violent strikers.

Costantinos Philippou rides a six fight win streak on his official record. His first officially recorded loss was his very first, a split decision loss to current UFC fighter Ricardo Romero back in 2008. However Philippou also dropped a submission loss to Joseph Henle at The Ultimate Fighter preliminaries a year ago. Expect Philippou to mix it up, utilizing the striking that has earned him four victories by form on knockout and the Brazilian Jiu Jitsu that so famously characterizes his coach Matt Serra. Philippou currently trains alongside Chris Weidman, Luke Cummo, and Pete Sell at Matt Serra's Serra-Longo in East Meadow, New York. He is a former ROC light heavyweight champion.
