'Reem Wins 2010 K-1 WGP

Strikeforce heavyweight champion Alistair Overeem won the 2010 K-1 World Grand Prix with a first round knockout win over fellow Dutchman and three-time K-1 WGP champion Peter Aerts. Alistair Overeem is now 2-0 agaist Aerts, who endured a hard fought tagging match in the semifinals, defeating 2009 K-1 WGP Champion Semmy Schilt. Overeem's finals match followed fast-paced quarter and semifinals bouts. Overeem had a rough start against Tyrone Spong in the quarterfinals. Spong jarred Overeem with a lighning fast right hand in the first round, but Alistair returned the favor when he knocked down his Surinamese opponent in the third round. Overeem saw an energetic Gokhan Saki in the semifinals. Gokhan knocked Overeem down with a spinning hook kick, but Overeem managed to end the bout early when he broke Gokhan Saki's elbow and hand with a shattering roundhouse kick.
