Nemesis Drama Continues, Now Secret Service Steps In

Keith Jardine and a card full of fighters' recent unfortunate experience with the dubious "Nemesis Fight Promotions" in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic a couple of weeks ago has caught the attention of U.S. federal authorities. The event had unusually low attendance for a card of fair quality, although it featured familiar names like Keith Jardine, Paul Buentello, and Eliot Marshall. According to fighters' reports, the event had insufficient staffing, inadequate supplies, and was generally a day of confusion and disorganization. The event follows a string of shady business with mixed martial arts events held in tropical resort areas outside of the United States. Just this past weekend Hermes Franca experienced what appears to be a rigged event at XVT 5 in Costa Rica.

In the case of Nemesis, Keith Jardine shared with MMA Weekly that the Secret Service is "eager to help [us] out." Since the event took place outside of the U.S. there's probably a lot of legal technicalities involved with pursuing legal action. However, Nemesis is a Florida-based organization, and all U.S.-based businesses operate under trade laws that require them to conduct themselves within reason when conducting business off shore. Both Sherdog and MMA Weekly have reported that attempts to reach Nemesis Fighting Promotions have gone unanswered.
