Toby Imada Represents at 2010 S-Cup, Makes Tournament Finals

Tantalizing throws, and stuning kicks describe one of the world's most brutal combat sports -- shootboxing. Combining kicks, throws, and submissions from the neutral position, shootboxing is a unique variation of kickboxing, and is one of the precursors to modern mma.

Shootboxing's world cup, or "S-Cup," the Shootboxing World Tournament, was held yesterday in Tokyo, Japan. It was the sport's seventh biennial event since 1995. Among those on the eight-man tournament roster was Bellator FC veteran Toby Imada. Imada defeated Kenpo Karate master and 2009 Shootboxing super welterweight champ Takaaki Umeno, and upset Dutch K-1 champion Andy Souwer en route to the finals. He fell to two-time K-1 champion Buakaw Por. Pramuk via technical knockout in the championship round.

  1. Toby didn't have the kickboxing skill set and experience that these guys have, but he's for real when it comes to adapting to a fight situation! He finds a way to problem solve and win straight up! Time and time again. Against all odds! A spectacular fighter!
