Hector Lombard Wants a Piece of the Strikforce Action too

"Jacare, I want your belt!"
Hector Lombard after defending
his Bellator middleweight title against
Alexander Shlemenko.

What if we aren't alone in the universe? What if men actually understood women? What if Tupac and Elvis are alive, livin' fat on some deserted island?

...A whole lot of "what-ifs". The latest in what-ifism is: What if Bellator and Strikeforce met in a copromoted event, pairing their titleholders against each other?

The Bellator vs. Strikeforce buzz has built steam the past couple of weeks as Bellator closed its third season. After Eddie Alvarez defeated Roger Huerta in a non-title bout last week at Bellator 33, Alvarez and Bellator CEO Bjorn Rebney went on a Strikeforce-rampage calling out Strikeforce lightweight champion Gilbert Melendez and CEO Scott Coker. This week Bellator middleweight champ Hector Lombard joined the call-out list, proclaiming "Jacare, I want your belt!", a stab at current Strikeforce middleweight titleholder Ronaldo "Jacare" Souza.

So far, the Strikeforce response has maintained a consistent argument -- that corporate/media obligations present a visible obstacle in the path to any such event. On the opposite side of the cage, Rebney maintains that there are simple, easy solutions to any obstacles. So, right now dreams of a Strikeforce-Bellator event remain a dream, but while we're dreaming, what if the event did really happen? What would the Strikeforce-Bellator fight card look like?
