Prospect Lens: Mamed Khalidov and Magno Almeida

Mamed Khalidov is a rising middleweight fighter hailing from Poland. He is a regular in Poland's KSW (Konfrontacja Sztuk Walki) promotion, and currently holds the KSW Light Heavyweight Championship Title. Khalidov's most notable win came in November of 2009 with a TKO over world ranked middleweight Jorge Santiago in Japan's WVR-Sengoku promotion. Khalidov later fell to Santiago by way of decision loss in their rematch for the Sengoku Middleweight Title. Mamed fought Deep and Shooto standout Ryuta Sakurai to a draw in May to retain the KSW Light Heavyweight Title. Of his total 26 fights, Khalidov carries 19 early stoppages, of which ten are submission wins, the other nine knockouts.

Magno Almeida is an undefeated lightweight fighter. At 7-0, Almeida boasts submission victories in all seven of his bouts. Almeida most recently defeated another up-and-coming prospect in Mike Campbell (8-3), who came off a huge upset win over Pride and UFC veteran Yves Edwards (39-16) at Moosin: "God of Martial Arts" in May. Almeida and Campbell, both New Englanders, Almeida coming from Massachusetts by way of Brazil, and Campell representing Rhode Island, met last night, September 17th, in the first professional mixed martial arts event sanctioned in Rhode Island -- CES: "First Blood." The win magnifies Almeida under the prospect microscope.
