Bellator and WEC Go Head to Head in Primetime Showdown

Tommorrow evening fight fans will have two viewing options when Bellator and WEC both showcase high powered fight cards in the same night. Both events will feature plenty of action from the lighter end of the scale as Bellator features two semifinal bouts from its women's junior flyweight (115 lb) tournament, and the WEC cooks up its usual smorgasboard from the lighter weight divisions.

"In the red corner, Bellator 31..."
Bellator's WEC's thirty-first installment might cause an explosion from the weekly pilot flame. With events taking place on a weekly basis during the Bellator in-season, presenting cards that offer spark is a real task, but the addition of a women's tournament to its third season has managed to keep the flame burning. The Bellator women's tournament nears culmination as Megumi Fujii takes on Lisa Ward, and Zoila Frausto meets Jessica Aguilar in the tournament semifinals. Fujii brings a perfect 21-0 record into her fight with Ward, a FILA grappling champion. Zoila Frausto has racked up an endless trail of Youtube hits from her insane knee KO against Rosi Sexton back in June. Her opponent Jessica Aguilar defeated Lynn Alvarez with a mean arm-triangle in the preliminary round. Aguilar will receive an early Christmas present if fate places Aguilar and Ward in the finals. Aguilar sufferred a submission loss to Ward in her very first professional fight.

Main Card:
Megumi Fujii vs. Lisa Ward
Zoila Frausto vs. Jessica Aguilar
Chris Lozano vs. Yoshiyuki Yoshida

Preliminary Card:
Mark Holata vs. Shawn Jordan
John Harris vs. Kyle Miers
Tim Ruberg vs. Aaron Davis
Dave Herman vs. Michal Kita
Scott Stapp vs. Mike Chandler

"In the blue corner, WEC 51..."
World Extreme Cagefighting unloads a no less than stacked card in the form of WEC 51. In the headliner WEC posterboy and current WEC featherweight champion Jose Aldo will clash with top contender Manvel Gamburyan. Aldo has quickly climbed the featherweight rankings having won all seven of his bouts with the WEC since debuting with the Zuffa promotion in 2008. Manvel Gamburyan's last loss was to Thiago Tavares at UFC 94 while fighting as a lightweight, but since dropping down to featherweight and jumping over to the Zuffa sister promo, the TUF 5 finalist has won all three of his matches, defeating WEC stars Leonard Garcia and Mike Brown in the process.

Also on the main card, archenemies Jamie Varner and Donald Cerrone will stage a rematch of their WEC 38 meeting in which Varner retained the lightweight title in questionable fashion. In the final moments of their first match Cerrone grazed Varner with an illegal knee to the dome after which Varner could not continue forcing the bout to the judges' scorecards. The controversy surrounding the fight has for long fueled calls for a rematch -- a call that will now be answered at WEC 51.

In bantamweight action, Miguel Torres looks to rebound from a two-fight loosing streak, taking on Charlie Valencia. Additionally, Leonard Garcia, who is still reeling off of a fight of the century-style split decision victory over South Korean kickboxing specialist Chan Sung Jung is set to meet another striking purist in Canadian Mark Hominick. On the preliminary card, Chinese lightweight standout Zhang Tie Quan will fight for the first time on American soil as he makes his WEC debut against undefeated Pablo Garza (9-0). Garza replaces Alex Karalexis who was fored to drop his name from the card due to injury. Meanwhile, Ring of Combat bantamweight champion Nick Pace will face off with two-time King of the Cage veteran Demetrius Johnson. Pace is currently undefeated and has drawn much attention from his flying knee KO against Collin Tebo at Bellator 11. The knee is a constant repeat in Bellator highlight reels.

Main Card:
Jose Aldo vs. Manny Gamburyan
Jamie Varner vs. Donald Cerrone
Miguel Torres vs. Charlie Valencia
Leonard Garcia vs. Mark Hominick
Mike Thomas Brown vs. Cole Province

Preliminary Card:
Chris Horodecki vs. Ed Ratcliff
Chan Sung Jung vs. George Roop
Diego Nunes vs. Tyler Toner
Antonio Banuelos vs. Chad George
Tie Quan Zhang vs. Pablo Garza
Nick Pace vs. Demetrious Johnson
