This years' ESPY "Fighter of the Year" award recipient was somewhat of an unpleasant surprise for MMA fans.
Forget about three successful title defenses since the 2009 ESPYs -- Georges St. Pierre, or IBO and WBO title wins in 2009 from Ring World Lightweight Champion Manny Paquiao.
I suppose those feats mean nothing when compared to Floyd Mayweather, Jr. who fought only once in 2010, no belts, no title challenges, nothing special.
Is boxing really making a comeback, or is ESPN involved in a conspiracy to undermine MMA?
I smell a Bob Arum payoff with ESPN on the bank books.
